Aplika modernised Flypark's parking and shuttle platform – over 50 % lower AWS costs and zero slowdowns.
Challenge
A major Finnish listed IT company had delivered the first version of Flypark's real-time airport parking and shuttle operations platform. Despite high cloud costs, the system suffered from slowdowns and occasional outages, especially during peak hours. This forced shuttle drivers to fall back on manual customer communication and coordination. A process designed to be fully automated wasn't actually running automatically.
Solution
Aplika was chosen to modernise the platform. We refactored the critical processes from the ground up, eliminated performance bottlenecks, and cut AWS cloud costs by more than 50 %. At the same time, we transformed the core Glops platform (glops.fi) into a truly international product by removing Finland-specific dependencies and switching customer communication (e.g., shuttle SMS notifications) to scalable AWS services.
